Maybe all of you already know about this female ghost from Thailand. Every country must have its own story about its culture and legend. This time I will tell about Mae Nak Phra Khanong. One of the famous ghosts in Thailand.

THE STORY :
Mae Nak Phra Khanong (Lady Nak of Phra Khanong) or simply Mae Nak (Lady Nak) or Nang Nak (Miss Nak) is a well known as a Thai female ghost. According to local folklore the story is based on events that took place during the reign of King Rama IV.
Nak is beautiful young woman who lived on the banks of the Phra Khanong Canal and her undying love for her husband Mak.

This story began during the reign of King Mongkut (1851-1868). There is a woman named Nak who is married to a handsome man named Mak. After marriage, the two lived in the Phra Khanong area of Bangkok, close to the temple of Wat Mahabut. After marriage, Mak had to leave his pregnant wife to do military duty. Unfortunately, Nak who was pregnant died while waiting for her husband to come home. This incident made local residents restless. The thing is, the Thai people believe that if a woman dies while pregnant, it will become a haunting spirit. The spirit is known as Phi Tai Hong Thong Klom.
The news of Nak's death was unknown to him. Until finally Mak returned from his military duty, Mak goes home and finds his wife and child fine. For some time, Mak lived his life with his wife normally. Even though the neighbors had warned, his wife had died a long time ago.

Finally Nak is a beautiful girl

and her child becomes a ghost

After experiencing a strange incident at his house, Mak finally realized that it turned out that his wife was a ghost. Mak instead escaped from his residence and took refuge in the temple of Wat Mahabut. A holy place that can't be visited by ghosts. Mak's departure, made the ghost of the Nak instead roared and terrorized the entire population around his residence. Thanks to a monk, Nak's curious spirits were finally expelled from his residence. Nak's spirit was put into a pot and thrown into the river.
But the residents believed that Nak's ghost was still roaming to watch over her husband.
